Methodology

How We Calculate the Score

The AI Transformation Ticker uses a weighted geometric mean across four pillars. Here's what we measure and why.

Last Updated: Q2 2026

The Formula

The score is calculated using a weighted geometric mean across four pillars:

Score =

Scale_Rate0.30 × Gov_Maturity0.20 × Workforce_Readiness0.30 × ROI_Efficiency0.20

Scores range from 0 to 100. A score of 100 requires high performance across all four pillars.

Because we use a geometric mean, a critically weak pillar cannot be compensated by strong performance elsewhere — the score reflects the weakest link in the chain.

The Four Pillars

Scale Rate and Workforce Readiness carry 30% weight each as the primary execution constraints.

Scale Rate

30%

The share of organizations that have moved AI from pilot to production at meaningful scale — not just adoption, but execution.

Governance Maturity

20%

Whether organizations have the structures, policies, and operational capability to govern AI responsibly — not just on paper, but in practice.

Workforce Readiness

30%

Whether employees have the skills and confidence to use AI effectively — usage rate adjusted for confidence, because usage without capability is not readiness.

ROI Efficiency

20%

The share of organizations achieving enterprise-level AI impact — not just any positive return, but meaningful contribution to business outcomes.

How We Source the Data

Each pillar input is drawn from a single primary source that meets our credibility criteria: the research organization must be independent (no vendor bias, no competitor to organizations we serve), the sample must be large enough to be representative, the data must be published within the prior 12 months, and the geographic scope must be global or multi-market. We update inputs when newer qualifying data becomes available.

Score Interpretation

0–25Early stage.Significant gaps across multiple pillars.
26–50Developing.Progress in some areas, critical weaknesses in others.
51–75Maturing.Solid execution foundation, optimization opportunities remain.
76–100Leading.Consistent performance across all four pillars.

The current score of 27 places most enterprises in the Developing range — meaningful progress on adoption, but execution, readiness, and governance are not keeping pace.
